History
University Overview
Rajamangala University of Technology Lanna (RMUTL) is a higher education institution located in the Upper Northern Region of Thailand. Originating from the former Institute of Technology and Vocational Education, RMUTL aims to produce skilled professional graduates by integrating science and technology as the foundation of practical learning. It also develops laboratories and professional excellence centers, incorporating real-world practice into its teaching and learning processes.
History
Established under the Rajamangala University of Technology Act on January 18, 2005, RMUTL is a science-and-technology-based institution that integrates learning with hands-on practice (Work-Integrated Learning; WIL). It strives to produce graduates with professional skills, strong ethics, and public-mindedness. The university operates across six campuses and one institute: Chiang Rai,
Tak, Nan, Phitsanulok , Northern Campus (Chiang Mai), Lampang, Institute of Agricultural Technology Research

University Emblems and Symbols
University Seal
The seal features a royal crown atop a lotus with eight petals, symbolizing wisdom. At the center is the royal emblem granted by His Majesty the King. The lotus is adorned with divine flowers representing prosperity and beauty. This emblem signifies RMUTL’s commitment to advancing professional education under royal patronage.
University Color
Golden Brown – symbolizing sustainable prosperity and academic excellence rooted in the rich cultural heritage of Lanna.
University Tree
Kasalong Tree (White Orchid Tree) – a native Lanna species known for its elegant white fragrant blossoms, representing the ideal qualities of RMUTL graduates: virtue, knowledge, and skill.

RMUTL Core Values
Core Values are of utmost importance and must be consistently and clearly communicated to all personnel within the organization. These values should be practiced continuously until they become a unique identity of the university. To ensure they are easy to remember and convenient to implement, the core values have been derived from the English abbreviation of the university’s name: Rajamangala University of Technology Lanna (RMUTL).
